Temporary Permit Counter Hours
Call before you come...
Starting March 1, 2010, temporary hours will be put into affect for the permit counter; building inspection hours will remain the same.
To accommodate staff availability and schedules, temporary hours may be put into affect throughout the year. Between March 1 and March 11, the first set of temporary hours will be active. The temporary schedule for the permit counter only will be:
March 1, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
March 2, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
March 3, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
March 4, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
March 5, Closed
March 8, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
March 9, 8 a.m.-Noon
March 10, 8 a.m.-Noon
March 11, 8 a.m.-Noon
March 12, Closed
Staff recommends that you arrive at least one-half hour before closing to make sure your needs can be accommodated. To make sure that you don't miss open hours, the best rule of thumb is to call ahead and make sure the counter will be open and schedule an appointment while you are at it. Any scheduled appointment will have precedence over walk-ins. We want to ensure you get efficient assistance and eliminate the possibility of coming to the counter when it is closed.
***Permit counter and building inspection hours were adjusted on January 1, 2010 to accommodate the reduction of staff at the City of Covington. Over the past two months, staff and customers seem to be adjusting well to these new hours: permit counter Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., closed Fridays, weekends and holidays; building inspections Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-Noon, closed Fridays, weekends and holidays.

Covington Aquatic Center will Remain Open
Rumors to close the pool are not accurate
A rumor circulated at the Maple Valley City Council meeting Feb. 8 that the Covington Aquatic Center, which is run by the city of Covington, may be closing.
Covington City Manager Derek Matheson said at the Covington City Council meeting on Tuesday that the city had no plans to close the pool.
Matheson wrote an e-mail stating, "The City Council hasn't given direction to close the pool or even to explore closing the pool."
Matheson said the staff, "plans to thoroughly review revenues and expenditures in all departments, including the pool, as part of the 2011 budget process," but closing the pool was not on the drawing board.
