168th Avenue SE Extension Project (CIP #1030, 1082, 1084, 1085)
PRIVATE / PUBLIC DEVELOPMENT
Through a developer agreement between the City of Covington and BranBar, LLC, an extension of the 168th Avenue corroder has received preliminary design as to alternative routes for the roadway, connection of SR 516 to Covington Way with a future road extension between this roadway and Wax Road. The purpose of this roadway is the transfer of trips from SR 516 and to improve access to future development projects south of Safeway and Fred Meyer. This will be a three lane arterial with two roundabouts to control traffic movements at the intersections and a signal at Covington Way. Projected construction start is mid to late 2007 with completion in 15 to 18 months.

This project will also provide a controlled access to the BPA property west of the substation and will change Covington Firs access away from the heavily traveled Covington Way to the south roundabout.
