Marlla Mhoon
Position 1
Marlla Mhoon
2006 - 2011

I have been an employee of the Tahoma School District since 1985 and currently teach 5th grade in Maple Valley. I have been a resident of Covington since 1992 and served on the Covington Planning Commission since March, 2005.

My voluntary community service includes Vote Yes for Covington's Future, Tahoma School District bond and levy campaigns, Campfire, Seattle Sea Kayak Club, Mountaineers Outdoor Ethics Committee, and Project Leave No Trace (formerly Scouting Ahead).

Serving on the Planning Commission provided me with a much deeper understanding of the problems and solutions associated with a growing young city. That experience also provided me with tremendous insight into the gravity of each decision and how it affects our community.

Participation on the Planning Commission has helped prepare me for service on the Council. I am very familiar with the Covington Vision Statement, the Downtown Plan, and have used the Comprehensive Plan to guide recommendations.

Each issue brought before the Commission requires study and preparation before meetings. I thoroughly enjoy this aspect of the job.
