Welcome to the City of Covington City Council web page. We encourage you to provide us with your comments about current issues in Covington. We value your attendance and participation at our weekly Council meetings. We hold Regular Meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
Study Sessions may be held on the first Tuesday of each month. The third Tuesday of each month is reserved for an additional Study Session, if so required, or special events such as Open House/Round Table Meetings and/or City Council/Commissions Joint Focus Meetings. We do not hold meetings on the fifth Tuesday of any month, unless otherwise noticed. All meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and take place at Covington City Hall Council Chambers, 16720 SE 271st Street , unless otherwise noticed.
Council members are elected at-large; not by districts. So, all citizens may vote for all seven Council positions. The elections are non-partisan. We serve staggered four-year terms, with elections held in every odd-numbered year. Click here for full information about the current council.
The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are members of the City Council. We select them from among ourselves to serve in those positions for two years. The Mayor cannot veto Council decisions, but acts as both our chairperson and the City's official host.
